Removing wallpaper paste from front of wallpaper

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can remove wallpaper paste from my very expensive and extremely nightmareish to put up wallpaper? My darling Dad helped put it up, and in the stress of dealing with flaws and trying to remove bubbles, we missed a large section of paste that's right in the eyeline behind the TV and catches the light all the time.

I read that bread rubbed on it helps, but I tried it and it didn't work. I'm nervous about rubbing it with a wet cloth as it might lose its colour.

Have you got a spare piece that you could do a test on rather than destroy the full sheet?
