Depends on the construction really- if the wall is a conventional cavity wall with an additional facing of stone then this is possible, but there will probably be ties left built into the wall which must also be removed. If these ties are stainless steel they could simply be cut off and the wall could then be plastered or overclad using some other material. If however the ties were a galvanised steel or expanded metal (often done but not to be recommended) the cut metal would corrode over time and damage any plaster finish applied externally.
