Removing moss from cement

Heard somewhere that a fine spray of diesel would kill moss on an old cement path.
Has anyone else ever heard of this or know whether it is true or not? If true, what's the best way to deal with any run-off?
We have that recurring problem and scuffing at the moss only seems to dislodge small chunks of the (aging) cement. The moss can get quite slippery when damp and can be as dangerous as the mini potholes left by the scuffing.
If diesel isn't the cure, what would do the job?

You could always buy a container of Moss Kill or Moss Go, one is slightly cheaper than the other but both are effective. I usually wait for a damp day (not too wet) spray on with a watering can, leave for a day or so and wash off with hose. If it's very bad I'll wash off with a yard brush and washing crystals, then hose down with plain water.

Careful with the Moss Kill/Go as it can stain non concrete items.
