Hi all,

I have an old Canon Eos 500 film camera which has a film in it.
The camera has no power though, even with new batteries.
The film is partially used, and I want to manually rewind it to get it out.

How can I do this ?

If there is no manual rewind on the bottom you will need to bring it to the chemist where they should be able to remove the film in blackout situation(in a black bag perhaps). Slim

I wouldn't bring it to a chemist these days. If the new batteries aren't doing anything, then bring it to a specialist camera shop.
There's usually a small pen sized button on the bottom/back of the canon slr's for rewinding film mid-roll, have you tried that? It has a circle with 2 arrows next to it.

The difficulty is that the EOS 500 (a very fine camera!) has an automatic rewind. Rewind in mid-roll should be possible, though, IIRC. Are you sure the batteries are making good contact inside the chamber?

As myate says, a "proper" camera shop should be able to sort you out in a minute or two. Go to the oldest looking person in the shop.

I have an Eos3-HS which is a bit different, but according to this link to the manual, same procedure applies, just that the buttons are in different place - page 50 is what you need, but I think you do still need power.
