Removing Bituman from white PVC window

hi,

any ideas how i can remove bituman from a white pvc window frame and the glass itself ? had some guys in doing a tarmac job and some bituman splashed on pvc windows and can't get it off. have tried hot soapy water, white spirits and even had a contract cleaner out to look at it but no luck at getting it off !!! any useful ideas / info would be beneficial and greatly appreciate as am afraid the window will need to be replaced as it looks so bad !!

You can get "bug n tar" remover from Atlantic or Woods for use on car body work. I used this to remove tar from my car and worked fine.

You could also try T-cut or petrol (test on a small area first though!!!!).

Diesel, plantoil(frying oil), butter, margarine- anything greasy will do the trick. For a more rapid job petrol is the choice (see post above) but wear gloves and let the wiping cloth dry in the open air. Or set it alight in a safe situation to combust it.You shouldn't dump a petrol saturated cloth in the bin, it might ignite or pollute the ground water where ever it's dumped.
