Hey
Was wondering if anyone had experiences tearing down a concrete garden shed and whether they could pass on any do's and dont's.

Any advice would be great - and if it includes recommendations about doing it yourself or getting someone in to do it then all the better

Thanks

Do make sure that there is no electrical or gas supply to it. Presence of hazardous materials (Asbestos etc). Check weather, have proper personal protective equipment. Make sure you denail timbers as you go, otherwise you might learn the hard way. If theres access it might be worth your while getting the local dogger man in to rip down walls. Cut timber to use for firelighting

What kind of roof does it have? You'll have to start there anyway.

If you can't get a digger or the like to the site, an option for the walls would be to hire a concrete saw. Cut through the walls vertically, and you should then be able to push the wall into the shed. It should break up into managable chunks, especially if you put a couple of blocks onto the floor before you puch the wall in. A "little" work out with a sledge might be required though.

Is there a slab floor? Do you want to remove that as well?

The roof appears to be felt over wooden lats. There are leaks so from a safety point of view I might go with starting the roof removal from within the shed to at least loosen some of the wood.
From brief experiences taking the walls down is relatively straightforward but a guy with a mini-digger will probably be required for the foundations.

Thanks for the advice - if anyone has had good dealings with a digger company please pass details along
