Remortgage EBS

Wondering if anyone has been with EBS for a long time and what they are like for mortgage rates. I am currently with Halifax on a variable rate but not sure to stay with them. Would prefer to remortgage to AIB or BOI who have the cheapest rates but can't afford to pay fees to switch and only EBS offer a switching package.
EBS mortgage rates are higher than others but in the long term are they competitiive? They said that they have not been effected by the economic crash in the same way as BOI and AIB so maybe are more secure financially?

hi lipso

the boi do have a switcher package out - if ur mortgage is over 150k they will give u 750 towards the legal fee's . they may even have a solicitor who will do it for that costing u nothing in the end.

best of luck with the switch .

AIB no longer offer switchers.
BOI switcher contribution ends 31st March, it is very unlikely you will make this deadline.

EBS has a maximum loan to value of 75% and offer a free switcher only if you use their First American switcher panel. Nobody can correctly predict how long EBS will stay competitive, for a long time they had some of the worst rates in the market and this was before the credit crunch.

thanks househunter. Unfortunately my loan amount is below BoI's limit of €120000 so I don't qualify for the switcher deal. Thinking of going to EBS but waiting to hear what Halifax is goin to say to their mortgage customers.

hi lipso even though ur under the 150k limit if the bank is offering a better rate then the ebs u mite be better paying the legal fee's and going with it . could work out better for u in the long run . best of luck with the switch
