Remaining Natural Slate

We put natural spanish slate on our house a few years ago.
There is a lot of larger pieces and even some full slate left over.
Anyone got any ideas on how these could be used
I was in a restuarant one day and saw the place mats were made from natural slate.
Worst case any ideas on how to get rid of them?

I've seen them broken up and used on a garden border instead of bark
