Relocating a toilet

Hi
I'm new here, and I am in the middle of doing a total gut job of our main floor bathroom. I'd like to relocate the toilet and tub to another area in the room, but I read somewhere that the breather pipe for the toilet mustn't be any further than 5 feet from the toilet...is this true ? If so, I won't be able to move the toilet from it's current location in that room. Currently, the breather pipe goes horizontally 5 feet under the floor from the toilet, then it goes vertically through a closet in a bedroom adjacent to the bathroom, and thought the ceiling, attic and roof. If I move the toilet to where we'd like to have it, there would be about 8 or 9 feet of horizontal breather. Any help or advice would be helpful. For what it's worth, we live in Ontario Canada, and I don't know what the building code is for such a renovation. Thanks for your help.
