Relief for College Fees

I did a Master's degree, graduating 2 years ago - fees amounted to around 14k - can I still retrospectively claim relief for this?
 
Hi, as far as I know you can claim tax relief for the last four years.

You can backdate claims for tax relief by up to 4 years (i.e. back to 2004 right now). To do this write to Revenue with details of your fees and including a copy of your P60(s) for the relevant year(s).

Can we claim for our son's college fees? He's 18 and is in first year college of a 4 yr degree course. He does not have a part-time job, so we are paying his fees. Just wondering if we can claim tax relief on this.
 
Are there tuition fees for third level students like this? I thought that they were abolished a while ago? Or is he studying outside the jurisdiction? Note that non tuition fees such as capitation fees etc. do not qualify for tax relief. According to the Revenue link that I posted earlier qualifying fees paid by a parent/guardian/spouse etc. are tax deductible.
 
He's in UCC. Paid just under €1K, but not sure what it was. Maybe it was capitation fees. Will check it out.
 
Sounds like registration plus capitation fees - not tuition fees. See [broken link removed].

That is registration fee, which is not allowable. An EU student pays a registration fee only, not tuition fees. The standard €1K or so paid for an NUI course is not tuition fees and is not allowable.
