Rejected for Transition Pension

Hi All, My Dad who turns 65 in June has had his application for Transition Pension Rejected.He is short 5 contributions.
He has been unemployed for the last 2 years and is receiving Jobseekers allowance.
My question is what happens now when he reaches 65,is he entitled to any state payment?
Will he continue on Jobseekers Allowance till State Pension at 66 years old?
Any advise welcome

It seems so sad that your dad has lost out on his Transition Pension and probably his Contributors Pension because he is short 5 contributions. Is there no way your dad could appeal this judgement. Surely there must be some allowances made for people who have found themselves unemployed for the last few years because of this huge recession... through no fault of their own...
 
If he hasn't all ready I would get a copy of his prsi record and add up the number of paid and credited contributions to double check a mistake hasn't been made.

Also he should have got credits/stamps while on JSA and JSB so you can check if during any period over the years that he got all the contributions due to him.

When you see the forms it's quite easy to check this out.
