hi, apologies for registering and then straight in with a question!!

My brother and I are transferring our deceased father's property into our names at present. Recently our solicitor received a letter from The Property Registration Authority requesting various searches since 1970 of Registry of Deeds and Judgements Office. A law searchers firm has quoted as follows:

Registry of Deeds Search 4 names by five decades @ €12 per name per decade. Total €240.

Judgement office search €36 (3 names)

Fees €40.
Total €388 incl VAT.

Now my query is with online searching available at landregistry.ie can I undertake this task myself or is it better leave with pros. I could do without spending a couple of hudered euro on this if I can.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Law searchers are bonded, so you can rely on the results of their searches. The PRAI may require bonded results but you can always ask them if you can do the search yourself and if they will allow that.
