Registering Marriage

Hi all, just a quick question, i'm getting married the start of next year and we are going registering our wedding soon, just wondering once we register that we're getting will it affect my husband to be dole?, i know once we're married his dole will be affect but i'm just wondering will it happen before that?

What are your current circumstances?

Are you living together now?
Are you working or on a SW payment yourself?

If you are living together at the moment, then your fiancé's jobseeker's payment may include an increase for you, depending on your income.

If you are not living together, then after you are married, your husband can apply for an increase for you.

Thanks for your reply, i'm working thank god. he is on social welfare, currently we are not living together, obviously once we married we will be.

Registering your intention to get married is irrelvant to your social welfare intitlements. Once you move in together, then your lving arangement will have changes and any means tested social welfares payments may change accordingly.

If your circumstances remain the same (you working, your husband unemployed), then his jobseeker's claim will be means-tested based on your income after your marriage.
