Hi,

I am currently in the process of trying to set up a company with my business partner. I have a couple of questions. Has anyone ever used www.registeracompany.ie? Can I open a business bank account if I just register the name or do I have to register the company? Is there a difference between registering the company name and registering the company? Is it better to register the company through a solicitor?

Thanks in advance.

You can register a business name and open a bank account in that name i.e. sole trader. You need business registration certificate to do this.

With a company, you open a bank account in accordance with the cert of incorporation.

There is a huge difference in just registering the name and registering a company. With a company the name is secure. With a business name, this does not stop someone from incorporating with the same name.

Most accountancy firms offer company setups.
