Hi folks,
I am a paye worker with my current company for the last 3 years. Over the next few months the department that I am working in is going to be down sized and people moved abroad (london office). I am not in a position to move to London (new born on the way in august, our 1st) and also the conditions of moving there offered by the company do not make it worth while. It is reasonable that in the downsizing i could be let go, nothing is concrete at the minute, details still to be worked out.
I want to ask about redundancy, it is my understanding that if my contract of employment was terminated then i should be entitled to the statutory for the period worked. But, i am registered as a sole trader also with the PAYE. My sole trader thing was just as an aside for some work that i done (less than 1K i received in payment). Will this sole trader setup affect any redundancy entitlements that i have?
