Regisitering as a charity

Is there a formal mechanism in place in Ireland for registering a body as a charity? I have found information on the revenue commissioners website about applying for tax exempt status as a charity but not sure if a body should do more than this... does anybody know?

That's all there is at the moment. A new Charities Bill (2009) is to set up a Registrar of charities, but nothing has happened since the bill was passed. If you get your charity onto the Revenue's list, it will be automatically transferred.
