region 2 DVD playing on laptop but not on DVD player

I took delivery of a DVD from cdwow yesterday. I have used them many times before with no problems. The DVD is a region 2 DVD and the DVD player is a multi region one that can play Region2 with no problems. When I try to play the new DVD it plays the copyright notice but stalls just before the menu options display. I cannot fast forward or get any menu options etc. It will play fine on the laptop so I know the DVD is not faulty.

Any ideas how to resolve this greatly appreciated!

Try cleaning your dvd player if you have a dvd lens cleaner. The DVD could still be faulty even though it played ok in Laptop.

-maybe get a friend to try it for you - I still have a feeling it may be the dvd disc.

I too would suspect the DVD disc itself as opposed to the player. On the other hand is there a firmware upgrade available for your DVD player that might address this problem?
