refused position after career break can I apply for jobseekers benefit?

I have just been told I will probably not be allowed to return to the HSE after a career break.

I had been approved for a post and was due back on last Tuesday, childcare all set up and paid for.

However a new circular means my post has gone to the National Employment Monitoring Unit and is unlikely to be approved.

My query is, since I am not fired from the HSE, but am not able to work for them either, can I claim benefit without resigning from the HSE?

I would be genuinely seeking work but I would not want to resign in the hope that in a year or two I could be hired again as I am a permanent employee.

I know I should get on to HR but that's where I was being posted and I know the manager I deal with is out of the office for two days.

Union rep hasn't got back to me either.

Yes, you can claim JB as you are fulfilling the conditions of looking for work and available for work.
