refund on visa card

We have decided to cancel a reservation with a hotel in Croatia. We paid a 50% deposit by visa card and when booking we where told a full refund would be give if less then 3 weeks before arriving. We are still within the time frame, 6 weeks! However, when I rang and emailed them, I was told it would take 2 weeks for the refund to go through!? Is this normal??
If we contact our bank, can they stop the payment/cancel/refund? And how long will this take??

The bank will more than likely tell you that its a matter to be resolved between you and the retailer. If the retailer fails to make the refund in the time-frame promised, then maybe contact your bank.
