Hi all,

I ordered & paid for 2 school uniforms from my local shop. Since then a friend passed her son's to me so i now don't need the new one's.

I went into the shop to tell them this & was told that they could only give me a credit note for the items.

I thought this wrong as the uniform itself has not even arrived to the shop for me to collect.

Am i entitled to get a full money refund or just the credit note?

Many thanks in advance for your reply's.

You're not entitled to anything, you changed your mind, there's nothing wrong with the uniforms. The key word here is 'local'. Boutiques, local shops and one-off shops generally do not do goodwill refunds, they can't absorb the losses. Regardless of whether or not it's actually there, the contract was made and they're on their way, it's the same thing really. Take the credit note, ask for a long-lasting one, you will need more uniforms, or even just tracksuits or shirts for PE. Or you could sell it in the local paper?

Shop is don't you a favour giving a credit note. They are not obliged to give you anything just because you changed your mind.

Ask a friend or another mum at the school if they would buy the new uniform off you. Kids grow fast and no doubt you will find plenty of buyers.

Or ask the shop to give you a bigger size and keep it for next year;)
