I get my cartridges from http://www.calibrecomputing.com/ they have branded and Ink Rite ones - I pay E5 for an Ink Rite black cartridge, the Epson equivalent costs E45 in my local stationery shop. Quality wise, I can't see any difference.

Have posted this before.
I buy bulk ink (250ml bottles) online from BS Print.
Have even refilled cartridge for photo printer with good results.
They sell printer brand specific ink.
Its easy to refill using a syringe.
Instructions on website.They advise reusing cartridge about 5 times.
Cartridges hold about 14ml so do the maths!

I tried this refill thing (using the ink/syringe method) on black cartridge and it was less than successful; my printer is still flashing that there is a problem with the cartridge - tried the usual reboot stuff etc., - any one any ideas as to what the problem might be?

Kildrought

Had a similar problem when using an Espon printer. The print head was blocked and needed cleaning.

bs-print.co.uk have a lot of information on cleaning print heads.
If they list your cartridge as refillable, try it.
If a refill presents problems, I just throw out the cartridge.
Only loss is about Eur2 worth of ink.
They say don`t let cartridge run dry.Refill when low.
Your Epson cartridge may be chipped.You can buy Chip Resetters for Eur8.
Don`t know much this end.
