Hi I was just looking for some advise as I will be made redundant shortly. I will be 12wks pregnant when I finish up and I was not intending to look elsewhere for work as I feel I would not make the probation period as I would be due to finish up.

I dont really know the welfare system that well
and I am not sure as to what I would be entitled to when I finish up.. If anyone could shed some light on this for me I would appreciate it. As I have not mentioned it to anyone other than my husband..

You will be entitled to JSB as soon as you're made redundant. That's assuming your redundancy payment is under 50K. If it's over 50K you may miss a few weeks depending on how big the payment is. See attached link for details. http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Schemes/JobseekerSupports/JobseekersBenefit/Pages/jb.aspx

You are not treated any differently or more favourably because you are pregnant. I'm not sure if you'll be entitled to maternity benefit from state. The following is a quote from social welfares website

"Maternity Benefit is paid by the Department of Social Protection to women who have a certain number of paid PRSI contributions on their social insurance record and who are in insurable employment up to the first day of their maternity leave. The last day of work can be within 16 weeks of the end of the week your baby is due.Maternity Benefit is paid by the Department of Social Protection to women who have a certain number of paid PRSI contributions on their social insurance record and who are in insurable employment up to the first day of their maternity leave. If, as the OP has stated, she will not be seeking work, then she will not be entitled to Jobseeker's Benefit, as this is one of the qualifying criteria.
