Redundancy Package, Personal Savings and Job Seeker Benefit

My sister is being made redundant from her job after about 15 years service
She is getting package of statutory redundancy and a severance package from the company
She is single and mortgage free
She has a fairly large amount of personal savings built up over the years -

Will she qualify for Job Seekers benefit for the next 9-12 months from when she stops working without a means test(given the initial wait period)
or
Given that her redundancy package is going to be a fair size along with her large personal savings built up over the years, will social welfare just tell her that she is entitled to nothing at all and that she will just be signing on to maintain her credits but wont get any benefit at all

Yes of course she will as long as she meets the requirments of being available and seeking employment.

Note: Benefit is not means tested.

Her redundancy payment may disqualify her for a number of weeks, depending on the amount received. Other than that, as pudds said, her savings won't be assessed once she's on Jobseeker's Benefit.

So what is the difference between Job Seeker Benefit and Job Seeker Allowance
Do you go onto Job Seeker Benefit 1st and then after a period of time if you havent got a job (9-12 months time frame) Social welfare move you onto Job Seeker Allowance and the Job Seeker Allowance is means tested - right?

Here is a link to some information about JSB. Job Seekers Benefit is paid for 12 months presuming she has enough PRSI credits built up. Once that is finished she can then apply for Job Seekers Allowance which is means tested
