Hi, my employer has made me a redundancy offer but I've already get a new job to go to, starting shortly. Am I still entitled to a tax free payment and if there's a risk and revenue query it down the road, who would end up paying the tax? my ex employer or me when i submit my tax return next year??

You have been offered redundancy. Take it. Its your legal right. Everyone who takes redundancy, or who knows its coming (after all, you're supposed to get notice and even be given time to look for a new job) -or even suspects its coming looks for a new job.

And dont forget in the new job you have to start off fresh on your accumulated years in case they make you redundant.

I've made people redundant, given them their money and they got jobs immediately elsewhere, and I was delighted for them. In fact I often made sure they got jobs before giving them redundancy, though it's more difficult nowadays.

Revenue does not care that you will immediately start a new job, but there are Revenue implications in some redundancy situations as explained on several previous threads by cleverer people than me.

Redundancy and new job are 2 seperate situations.
If you are being paid Statutory redundancy only it is tax free. The fact that you go straight into your new job will not change that.
If you have an ex-gratia payment also then that may have tax implications if you were made redundant again in the future.
