I have read that fixed term employees can still be entitled to redundancy? Is this true in all case and how would you find out? If you have 4+ years service and could be entitled of a contract of indefinate duration, would you have to apply for this contract to enforce the redundancy?
If your contract is not renewed, then your employment is considered terminated, and if you have at least 2 years service, would be entitled to redundancy.
You wouldn't have to apply for an indefinite contract, but if one was offered to you and you refused it, then you would not be eligible, as you couldn't say that it was the company that terminated your employment.

I finished a fixed term contract which spanned over 3 1/2 yr (initial contract 3yr 2 mths & then 4 months) last June. I noticed Sesed's post & was wondering might I be entitled to redundancy? No one replaced me as far as I know. The only anyways that I would think that might be iffy is the following scenario: 1 person's contract finished in September then a new person was employed then I was due to finish in February last year but got an extension until June. I didn't hear of anyone going to fill my position.
I was having a bit of a read around & there is a mention of having to make a claim within 6 mths but not sure for what.
If I am entitled how would I go about doing it?
