Red Brick new Construction

We were thinking about using red brick around the base off our house. It would run from maybe a foot to two foot off the ground right around the outside of the house after which you'd have plastered blocks.

I just heard a story that they tend to be a bit porous after a few years and aren't as good as they look. Does anybody know anything about this?

Bricks are porous by nature.you have to use an engineered brick in your situation as an ordinary brick would have permanent efflourescence so close to the ground
