Recruitment Consultant - Salary ?

I was considering moving into this field of work.

Anyone know what the average salary an IT recruitment consultant would earn?

Salary would be quite low but earnings can be a lot higher as it is normally all commission based.

I know of friends who earned 100k+ back in the Celtic Tiger years.

It seems to be heavily dependent on commission. And I heard of the rumors of recruiters in the UK and Ireland doing very well in the boom years. I also heard of many of them make lots and getting burned out quickly because of the work load...

I'd like to know what the average recruiter earns during normal times because I'm not expecting to take part in another boom sadly.

So the average basic for someone with experience might be around 35k . Would that be correct? With commission it's not unbelievable to expect around 45-50k a year?

Is there still job opportunities in this field? Have you checked that? I'm surprised because there used to be so many recruitment agents and companies and they suffered as the recession hit and companies hired less, people less likely to leave a job and companies employing directly rather than paying recruitment consultants fees.

No the market is pretty much dead apparently.

I just might have an opportunity to move into it. I have an interview next week.

I found out that wages are often as low as 22k euro per year. That can move up a few thousand through commission and another thousand or so through bonuses. All in all there is not much money in it unless you are in the middle a boom :)
