I am currently seeking a position in the financial sector and I have many years experience in the financial sector.
Its been a while since I have looked for a job and I am dealing with agencies.
I am not sure what users views on them are good or bad? I have seen roles advertised on irishjobs and their own website that suit my skills yet when applied they are 'gone' or 'no longer available'. Its very frustrating and when you speak to them they just get you in promise you everything and deliver little. I don't want to tarnish them all with the same brush as I am sure there are some good agencies
Just wondering what users experience is with them and what agencies would they recommend.
My experience is that most couldn't care less about the applicant, thats those that bother to reply to you. The last two times I applied for jobs that I was ideally suited to (2 different agencies), I did not even get the basic manners of a reply. I would base my search on strenous website trawling of financial services companies and their current vacancies sections.
IMO theyre in it solely for the commission. I keep getting spam emails for various recruiter with jobs that dont suit me at all. I used a recruiter for my previous job move, she was my best friend until I took it, asking me about my weekends and so forth, the moment I took the job, not even a courtesy call to follow up afterwards.
They is so many fishing job specs just to get your CV into their system as well, I dont like them I must say.
