Recovering deleted history and bookmarks?

Hi guys.

My folks have a laptop at home which they use for their business. Yesterday they found that all history and bookmarks were deleted, not sure if by a family member or just randomly deleted. I had a look and found some sites in the temporty internet files but cannot find the rest.
Is there a way to recover these items? Also, is it possible that these could just disappear?

I lost all my bookmarks in Firefox lately too and recovered them thanks to Google. I've now backed them up by opening bookmarks > Organise Bookmarks > File > Export and then save them to where it suits you. Perhaps you can do something similar with IE ?

Try and restore the system to a previous point using the XP restore function.

Go to control panel>performance and maintenance>restore
