Hi all

Does anyone know what can be done about a tenant that leased a room in your house and is refusing to pay for the bills that he owes.

He threw out cutlery and delph belonging to me and left the floor of his room in a terrible state and I had to get someone in to clean it.

The deposit that was left with me was used to pay his part of the rent as he would not pay the remaining month.

Is there anything I can do or put it down to experience?

Thanks, V

If rented under rent-a-room scheme, i think there is very little that can be legally done, as the bills are in theory includes in the rent.
Did you draft (in writting!) some ground rules before tenant moved in?
Best would be to give notice to tenant..or has tenant already left and owes money?

Or are you sub-letting?

The guy has left already. I am sub-letting with permission. I'd say it looks like I'll have to cover his cost. :(
