Recording to DVD player from Sky

I'm a total techno-phobe so apologies if this seems like a silly question.
I have the regular Sky service (dish) and recently bought a recordable DVD player.
However I can't figure out how to record TV programmes on to it from Sky.
Is it possible? Or is that why Sky+ is available?

Yeah it should be easy enough. I own Sky+ but it will be the same principle.

On the back of your Sky box there will be a VCR Scart - this is the output.

On your DVD recorder there will be an input SCART - unsure how it will be labelled.

Once you connect these 2 Scarts it should be just a matter of recording on your DVD recorder while watching a channel on your Sky box. But remember that you can only record the channel you are watching.

As above......just make sure that your DVDR is powered off completely when you connect the two ( unplug it ). When you power it back on it should pick up the signal from your SKY Box....There will also be a scart out to connect to your TV.
