Recording from a Satellite Dish

Recently got the Lidl Satellite Dish and eventually got it working. Now, I need help in connecting a video recorder to record some favourite programmes.

The current set up is the satelite base is connected to the TV via (red, white & yellow) cables, the video is connected to the satellite base using a supplied scart lead - do I also need to connect it to the TV, or is the TV connected in reverse by the scart lead, satelite base unit and the connecting cable?

I think that once you have connected your VCR via scart to the receiver and choose scart as the "channel" your VCR is recording then it should work. However you must have, say CNN selected and viewable on the TV for the VCR to record CNN. In other words you cannot record BBC24 while viewing CNN.
