Need to have our patio and drive way cleaned after the winter, can anyone recommend someone who will do a good job on this?

Blackrock - where are you based? Will help with the recommendations... (would you not be inclined to do it yourself?)

Sorry southside dublin,

i could do it myself but there are a few things that will require more than a quick rinse like some tyre marks on cobble drive and some stains on granite patio

Buy a power hose in Aldi or Lidl and use it to clean your patio. Wash the outside of your car while you're at it.

I have a power hose what I want is someone to clean my patio

My car is spotless but I paid someone to do that too ;)

Blackrock - Are the slabs / driveway cement based / grey or are they coloured slabs on the patio and cement on the tarmac? There are a lot of cleaners you can get that would make "light'ish" work of the marks you describe - just be careful in relation to the bleaching of the area with some chemicals, it may discolour or even "de-colour" the slabs. But also be careful in relation to getting someone in & what they use to clean - some would say what they use, is ok, but there's no going back once it's done.

You could rent a more powerful power hose cleaner yourself ( if it's something you would be willing to tackle yourself - have we persuaded you yet :D ). Such would help greatly with the cleaning and be quicker than the standard power hoses, but again, careful around the cement / filler of the patio area - don't want to dig that out with the power hose.

drive way is coloured cobble, the patio is granite.

i dont have the time or inclination to do it, just want a decent recommendation :)

also needs moss removed from inbetween cobbles etc

Hi,
I'm new to this so sorry to butt in on thread but I'm thinking of using chlorus on the patio and footpath but wondered will it damage tarmac if some of it spills on to that? Advice appreciated, thanks.

If you see power washers being promoted by Aldi they usually have a patio cleaner liquid on special at same time. Mix it 5 parts water to one part liquid and put it on about an hour before you wash, scrub into bad spots. Lifts every bit of crap easily. Got it last year and sorry I didn't get more.

I tried Chloras. A waste of time as the moss/algae eventually comes back. I bought a good Karcher washer and I powerhose deep into the tar every year. It deep cleans the tar and (touch wood) no damage to the tar.

I didn't do it last year ... water conservation and all that but I'm confident that the tar will be squeaky clean when I'll be done.

I tried moss removers, washing powder etc. .... a waste of money. A good power washer does a better job.

Thanks for that, I have a power washer that I got in Aldi and that's what I usually use, was just hoping for a lazier, faster solution!! Cheers for the advice.

freddie123 - there is a bleaching component in the chlorus, which will lighten the tarmac - not so much "damage it", just the colouring is affected.

Thanks Jazz01, that was what was worrying me about it as I knew it was bleach, but didn't know how strong.

I have use bleach for years 50/50 water. Dirt cheap, alge will always come back whatever you use
