Recommendations for Free Forum/Messageboard

Hi all

I need to set up a small online forum for a study group - hopefully free of charge. I've googled and there seems to be plenty of options but before I go off half-cocked, I thought I'd check in here for any recommendations?

I think PhpBB (http://www.phpbb.com/) is about the best of the free ones ...

SMF (http://www.simplemachines.org/) would be second place I think...

Either would do what you need

Try Google groups for email or Google sites for bulletin board, shared calendar and more.
