Recommendations for car 7-8k

Hi all,

Looking for recommendations for a new car. Currently drive an 02 Ford Focus and looking to change for something newer... Dont have any kids and dont do huge milage.

Have been looking at 07 Ford Mondeos and think they are nice though not sure it I am set on one... Was also thinking about maybe a jeep or a BMW but afraid they would cost the earth and moon to run with diesel/petrol, tax, insurance...

Dont want anything too small or sensible...

Any advice or recommendations?

I've an A6 and love it. Have previously driven Toyota/Mitsubishi/Renault/Ford/Hyundai of varying sizes, and the A6 kicks them all into touch. Imported it from UK a few years ago so didn't cost the earth.
