I have to travel to London shortly on personal business and have a half day to spare as I am on an early flight and my appointment isn't till the after noon. I have to be in Wimbleton at 2pm and I am in London (heathrow) from 8 am. Does anyone have any recommendations for a half day that are in or around this area?

You could always go on the London Eye. Don't have breakfast beforehand though. A good way to have a look at the old town as long as you are not too scared of heights.

To help people recommned something you should really outline your interests but if it's a dry day then a walk round any of the parks is very relaxing, you could visit any of the museums or check out if anything special is hapening round the palace, they really do put on a good show there to mark various occasions.

I'm off tomorrow. Are there any of the sights( big ben, Palaces etc) that are not too far from Wimbleton? Not too keen on a museum as I will have my son with me. Other suggestions welcome?

you could try the science museum which is great for adults and kids, it is on the same tube line as wimbledon (south ken - district line).

Not sure what age your son is but London Dungeon is the place to go. It may not be in the right location but with the tube everything is fairly local.

Thanks for the help. Its looking like the London Eye. Comes recommended from several sources.Son too young for the Dungeon.

to be honest, after a while the eye might be boring for your son, if you do go however book in advance or you may be queing for a while
