Recommendations for 3 week break in August?

Any recommendations for an original 3 week break in August outside of Europe for a small group of people that's cheap, not too hot, has lots to see and do and is relatively safe for tourists... something new and off the beaten path??

Not sure what you mean by new, but have to agree with mickman, there aren't too many places off the beaten track that are safe for tourists. August is also a very hot month in most northern-hemisphere destinations. A couple of suggestions would be Australia / New Zealand, or maybe a US road trip......convertable.......wind in your hair........sunshine......... these are quite safe destinations and in the case of the US your money will go a long way this year.

yeah the US is the place to go. route 66?? the overseas highway in florida. i did the florida trip last year and it was fantastic.
or go the deep south - new orleans, missisippi etc.

as u can guess i love the US but its such a huge country and everything is so cheap compared to ireland then its the place to be - buy ur dollars now though

Yea, US is a good option for a road trip especially with the weak dollar... or maybe even Canada perhaps... There'll be a group of maybe 4 to 7 people travelling for between 2 and 3 weeks.

Highly recommend road trip in US. Would try to take in Arizona, Grand Canyon, New Mexico region and could end up in Vegas/LA/San Francisco. Very safe, plenty of motels to stay in and lots to see.
