Recommendation for wall build

We need to get a wall and pillars built at the front of our house. We got a quote from a guy but thought he was expensive so looking for recommendations. If anyone could recommend a good block layer or stone mason. We had hoped to use the natural stone left over from the build to cover the outside of the wall but if that is proving too expensive it will just be a block build and smooth plaster finished. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance.

Which part of the country are you in? I'm researching the cost of restoring dry-stone walls in Mayo, am told there are people about who have the skills, that it is "expensive" but am unsure what that means............€200 a day's labour? €400 a day? Does anyone have information on the going rate if stone is already available?

Dont go down the "cheapest " route.My neighbour got 3 quotes for an entrance (2 walls and 4 piers).There wasnt an awful difference but went with with the cheapest,disregarding proven track record of the other 2 .Well anyway that entrance is the worst excuse for masonry i have ever seen.Looking for advice she was told get a fast growing ivy to cover it.
