I have a Dell XPS M1710.

After much research over the years I narrowed down peoples recommendations that the following only was necessary to run.

Avast Antivirus
XP Firewall
Comodo BoClean
SuperAntiSpyware

I also run CrapCleaner and DeFrag now and then. Im just wondering if im missing something.. I used to run the likes of SpyBot, Adaware etc but many said these were useless and take up resources.

What do people use to keep their systems secure and running smoothly?

I also switched from Firefox to GoogleChrome which I have no issues with.

Many thanks! ;)

Avast
Windows Firewall (found zone alarm too intrusive)
Adaware
Spywareblaster

Ocassionally I run Malewarebytes/Glary Utilities/Disk Cleanup/CCleaner and defragement monthly.

Also have windows Defender to run if I need it.

Just remember to update often or before running a scan. Being careful on-line is your greatest defence.:)

I'm still on Win XP Pro but here's what I use:
- Avira personal (running)
- Sygate Personal Firewall (running)
- disable windows firewalll and windows defender
- CCleaner (periodically)
- Windows Disk Cleanup (periodically)
- Auslogics Disk Defrag (periodically)
- Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (periodically) (beats Spybot, Adware hands down)
- online Panda Activescan or Trendmicro Housecall very rarely
and make use of Autoruns and Process Explorer

I still use Firefox as I use NoScript and Adblock Plus plugins - their brilliant.
