Could somebody please recommend a good mortgage interest calculator online?

I am trying to work out the interest on my mortgage and how it is calculated.

In basic maths, lets say, my monthly mortgage capital and interest payment is €1000.00 with an interest rate of 5% how would I work out the interest portion of the loan I am paying each month?

No way of knowing from that, it changes the further into the mortgage you get, early years mainly interest reducing to mainly capital. If you knew the balance outstanding you could get the approximate interest content of the repayments.

There is approximately 290k remaining on mortgage with an interest rate of 4.5%

€290,000 * 4.5% / 12 = €1087.5 interest per month, the balance is capital.
