Am looking to go away for 4 days in August... want somewhere not too far a flight and some sun and relaxation. All tour operators only offer 7/14 day breaks...anyone any suggestions? Thanks

book a flight with ryan air or aer lingus to faro in portugal or malaga in spain. In portugal you will be less than 30 mins from beach in Villamoura which has a nice beach and marina but has lots of golfers or go another 30 mins to albufaria to a resort. Also there are a few resorts less than an hour from Malaga. Then you can book your own hotel or apartment through [broken link removed] or http://www.venere.com (www.venere.com) and also www.alpharooms.com lots of options out there for 4 days

Barcelona for a 4 day break. What airport would you be using. Ryanair has great prices on flights out of Shannon in August.

Marbella. Direct flight to Malaga with Ryanair, then 30min bus journey for approx €5, straight into Marbella. Cheap, very clean and beautiful beach and of course lovely weather. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the replies.... would be flying out of Dublin. Have been to Barcelona before and am not really looking for a city break. Will check out the suggestions..

Hi,
We flew to Tenerife with Ryanair early and came back with Aer Lingus 4 days later. Recommend it fully.

I would recommend Bourg St Maurice. http://www.lesarcs.com/?lang=en
No good if you are insisting on a beach.
But if you like hill walking, kayaking, white water rafting, swimming in a 50ft outdoor pool, parapenting, mountain biking, road biking (good cycle paths), canyoning, climbing on and on its a fantastic spot.

The weather is great.
The nearest airports are Geneva, Grenoble or Lyon. All 2 1/2 hr drive through the Alps.

The cheapest way to get there is rent a car. there are buses and trains but they are pricey and if its more than 1 person, car hire is better value.

High season is in winter and there is tons of accommadation, so owners are more open to renting for 4 day stretches. I would stay in the town , not in the ski stations as they are pretty dead in the summer.

If you are planning activities you probably need to reserve them in advance.
The "nage in eau vivre" or swimming in white water with a boogie board and flippers is said to be a blast.
