Reclaiming space under the stairs

afternoon all,
I am looking at reclaiming the space under our stairs by putting in some storage. I am hoping to have something custom built to store golf clubs,
hang coats and hats and to store shoes. I have had a look on the net for design ideas but nothing really stands out. Just wondering if any of you AAMers have any design ideas or otherwise!

thanks

Hi

Thinking of doing the same thing. Not going right into the lowest part though - am blocking that off in fact, as otherwise things will get thrown in there, never to be seen again. In the high part, the hope is to put a pull out coat rack, along the lines of your kitchen larder pull out press, but deeper. I'm hoping my brother will be able to do this. Hafele have a thing for this, but it's only around 500mm deep. Area for shoes, etc underneath. The rest of the space will probably be common or garden cupboard.

Regards.

i got this done as i hate the space under the stairs. i got a carpenter to cover it all up with red deal and put a little door in front, going to varnish during the summer. looks great and you can just throw in rubbish there no problem and out of the way

I would also like to get more use out of our understairs area but want it very organised or as mentioned previously, stuff will just get thrown in there and lost forever.

We left the space open after recent renovation work so currently have a narrow table on wheels and boxes for shoes etc in there. Rather than built in stuff I'm considering getting freestanding units on wheels that could be pulled in and out. Not sure how it'd work but sounds like a custom carpentry job which I prob don't have the budget for yet.
