Does anyone have any experience as to how you can reclaim taxes on a flight that was cancelled? My husband had tocancel aflight to America with Continental airlines due to illhealth. The travel insurance say that they will not be paying out for the taxes element of the fare. It can be reclaimed directly from airline. I have emailed the airline with all the details and just received an automated reply. I also posted a letter to them to their customer service section with all the details and have received no reply either.

I heard an ad or comment on radio recently about some company that was doing this for you. I just googled it, here's the link:. Don't know anything about it other than this. Be interested to hear how it goes tho.

When I had to do that, I just rang Aer Lingus. They do not need any details really as they have it all on file. You just need to tell them you want your money back. You have something like 30 days after the flight to claim it back though, so do not wait too long.

The refund takes a month or even a bit more to process.
