Rechargable 9V battery

I already have those rectangle (box) shaped batteries (PP3's I think they are called). I was wondering if one can get 9V batteries (don't necessarily have to be box shaped - perhaps one for a RC model or camcorder) and chargers that have a longer charge.

[broken link removed] might be what you are after?

I must check the ampage of the ones that I have. I think that I have 2200 mA already but these batteries die quite quickly. Do you know if there are batteries (even bulkier but rechargable with maybe a specialised charger) with a higher mA?

Hi Hansov, what are you powering these with? Are you already using rechargeable PP3s?

If the size of the replacement is not too important, you could use Maplin part number RK44X, which will hold 8 AAs in series, and provide 9.6V via a standard pp3 clip. Most pp3 rechargeables are only around 150-200mAh. The rating of this arrangement will be equal to that of the batteries you use. Use 2500mAh cells and you'll have a 9.6V 2500mAh battery!

I'd recommend 7DayShop for [broken link removed] and [broken link removed]. As Leo says PP3's are more likely to be rated around 200mAh than 2200mAh!

Ah ha -the PP3s I have are rated 1500 mA each. From my days of studying Physics (as a LC all those years before the points system ) I presume I could put two of these in parallel (not chained or in series !!! ) and I would get a lot more life. I am using them to power a remote mini-camera.

1500mAh? Are you sure that you don't have an extraneous trailing zero there? Connecting batteries in parallel should keep the voltage the same as a single battery but increase the runtime. See [broken link removed]. You might want to double check things with a multimeter before connecting to any devices just in case. Not sure why you're rigging up your own battery power sources like this though. Sounds unusual.

Lidl have a great offer on rechargeable batterries in store at the moment, they have twin packs of NiMH "C" and "D" for only €3.99 each, I know these are rated above 2500 mAh. Also "AA" 4 packs are only €3.99 and have a similarly high rating. And finally single "PP3s" are only €3.99 also, although the rating is only 200mAh, as other posters suggest. I don't think you're going to get better preforming PP3s- the batteries are too small, they're composed of 6 cells which individually must be quite small and therefore have very little capacity overall. I priced these batteries against Argos and they are less than 1/2 price in most instances, with the mAh ratings significantly better also.

Are you sure? As far as I could judge from the picture (now gone from their website) I thought that the AAs were rated nearer 2000mAh but I couldn't see anything indicating what the others were.

Let me check, I'll confirm full details later....

Ok Clubman, had a look at the ratings and I can now reveal the following:
"AA"- 2100mAh (ok, average enough)
"D"- 4000mAh (significantly better than the average)
"PP3"- 200mAh

I can't access the "C" batteries at the moment but I remember those being better than 2500mAh.
