Recession Smession!

Am looking to get some renovation work done on my house, its a small job really, take about 3-5 days max and be a handy few bob.

Phoned 3 builders at the start of this week.

One called out on Mon - said he'd get back to me with a price on Wed - I'm still waiting.

The other said he'd be out on Thurs. Left work early for it and all. No sign of him, no phone call or nothing.

The other took my name and number and said he'd call me back. Surprise surprise no call yet.

I'm sorry but are these people thick or what!!!

I think a percentage of this always happens - shortage of work or not. Don't really know why TBH.

It can be very annoying - earlier in the year a 'plumber' not only assured me he would arrive for a particular job but was even reminded about it.

At considerable inconvenience I waited in on a Saturday evening in a freezing cold house, twenty miles from where I was staying and the guy never showed - never even heard from him again.
