Recent Experience of UK Probate turnaround?

An estate I am executing has UK shares and my solicitor says he has passed all details to a contact in the UK who organises this for his clients. With Covid-19 I understand the process all but ground to a halt but its now been a number of months and I'm wondering what other people's experience is?

I went through a similar (albeit intestacy) situation a few years ago. There wasn't much in the UK estate, but it took the guts of 6 months to get it sorted out.

As long as there is nothing in Post Office savings it does not take that long. Post Office Savings, run on contract by Bank of Ireland, is a total joke even when you do everything absolutely by the book. Would compete with Eir for poor customer service. Otherwise probate is quite fast in the UK, 6-8 weeks but may have slowed due to Covid. Most shares you just need to send a copy of the probate and details of your identity as executor to have them transferred...
