Hello. I was made redundant in early 2010 when the company I worked for closed down and my employers disappeared. I received a cheque from the government for 100% of my statutory redundancy last week as my employers did not pay it at the time the company closed in 2010.
My colleagues and I never actually received a period of notice. We went to work one day and the gates were locked. The statutory redundancy cheque I received covered the day I started working for the company until the day the company closed down. Am I entitled to claim for two weeks period of notice on top of the statutory redundancy as I never actually received notice that I was to be made redundant.
