Rebate due ... how long for Revenue to process it

A few years ago I returned my tax forms late and was charged a penalty for this. I hadn't paid the penalty in full, but a couple of weeks ago I got a letter from the Revenue saying I wasn't going to be charged the penalty and that a refund would be issued.

Does anybody know how long it takes them to issue the refund?

I suppose if they told you you're due a refund it should be no more than a couple of weeks.

Phone CG on 1890 203070 and quote your PPS number - tell them the year in question and ask has the refund been approved and how long will it be.

I have heard 6 weeks mentioned but if you ring the Revenue number the recorded message may actually tell you the average waiting time for end of year returns.
