Hi

I am looking for a good solictor that is not charging a costly fees for switching mortgage, is that realistic enough to ask? anyone can recommend someone? Thanks.

If you use Ulster Bank, EBS, IIB, First Active, they will pay your legals (using title insurance) and some will offer you €1000 cash back!!

My solicitor charged me €450+VAT to switch to NIB, meaning that with NIB's €600 contribution to my costs I more or less broke even.

If switching to NIB, what additional outlay charges are occurred besides the solicitors legal fees?

Is it more complicated if my partner and I jointly bought our house before we got married (to each other ;-) ).

varies depending on the title deeds and existing lending institution - roughly though consider....

To take up title deeds & vacate/register existing mortgage, anything from €25.00 - €150.00
Searches €70.00 - €150.00
Land Registry fees on mortgage & new folio €131.00

Not if the house is in joint names

NIB also insist on a valuation of the property, cost around €130 I think. They refund you this also if you open an Easy Plus account which costs I think €9 p/m.

Got quoted €950 inc vat by my existing solicitor for switching service of which NIB would pay €600, has anyone used the free solicitors offered by NIB?

I am a bit hesitant about using them because the girl in the branch said that a 10 day period of paying interest on both loans is quite common, and this would cost me about €300.00 so I'd obviously like to avoid this!

Sherman, if its ok with you, could you pm on me your solicitors address?
