Welfarite, many thanks for the concise info and links - but do you have info on Re-qualifying for JB.

Husband was on JB for nearly 12 months and managed to get a temp job this summer fro 4 months, this has now ended. Went to SW yesterday, had a letter from them when he originally signed off saying he would be entitled to JB if he had 13 or more paid contributions since Aug 08. Person he dealt with was vague (had to check with a superior) then tried to persuade him to apply for JA.

I am pretty sure I have read somewhere about the 13 weeks paid contributions to re-qualify again for JB.

(I've moved your post to a new thread as it's a personal query rather than info for keypost)

Yes, to requalify for JB you need 13 PAID contributions from the day after you ahve claimed 6 months benefit 9156 days0. In hubbhy's case this was August 08 presumable and he now has them paid. Remembr that, as it will now be a new claim, it will be governed by his PRSI record in 2007 (39 total minimum needed of paid/credited contributions.) This may be the reason for hesitancy on the lad's part. And it would be stantard procedure to ask somebody did they wish to apply for JA in the meantime, in case they don't qualify for JB and don't find out for a few weeks or so.

Many thanks for the clarification.

He wont be going down the JA route due to my earnings.
